A few months ago, I was lucky enough to be invited to try out The Poke Shack in Venice, which serves up some delicious poke in the midst of Los Angeles’ current voracious appetite for raw fish in a bowl. Now, The Poke Shack is opening a new location on Melrose on Sunday, June 12 and they are giving out $1 poke bowls to celebrate their grand opening! Follow @ThePokeShack on soical media and go get ’em while they’re a buck — the bowls are so worth it.
I got a chance to preview the new spot and this location is larger than the one on Venice, but there is less beach, so you know, there are certain trade offs. To make up for the lack of sun, sand, and Venice revelry, The Poke Shack at 7257 Melrose has a gorgeous patio with plenty of space to eat your entire poke (or acai bowl) in peace, and a fun angel-wing mural, but the wings are made up of — what else? — fish!
I got a Big Daddy Bowl with a combo of salmon and tuna, plus lots of fixins, and an acai bowl — I didn’t get to try this one at the Venice location, but I’m so glad I got to finally do so. So tasty and fruity.
See it all for yourself below and then go on — get that $1 poke bowl before it’s over.
