Whether it’s a giant sushi roll or a video of one, some things take on a life of their own on the internet. A few weeks ago, I had the honor of capturing a video of the Sushi Chef Institute’s Giant Sushi Roll to preview their Nov. 13 Japanese Food Festival. Since then, both have taken a lives of their own, being featured on Thrillist and Insider, among others. It’s an honor and we’re happy to spread the word about such a great place and event!
The Sushi Chef Institute in Torrance offers a curriculum to become a sushi chef in two months, sushi workshops, and catering services. The Japanese Food Festival preview event featured a sushi bar, rolls, some of the best fried chicken of my life (!!!), veggie tempura, ramen, decadent chocolates, and yes, a giant sushi roll. Event attendees (us included!) got to see the giant sushi roll built piece by piece and it was pretty awesome (see video above).
Many thanks to Amie, Andy, and everyone at the Sushi Chef Institute for an amazing preview event and for making a giant sushi roll that has the internet talking! Get your tickets for the Japanese Food Festival here.
Did people eat the giant sushi roll after it was made?
We did! It was great.
Thanks! I assumed you did, but some people weren’t sure. 🙂
